2025, quilt with inkjet print on fabric, 60” by 40.”
My work explores the intricate balance between motherhood and self-identity. Blending traditional and digital techniques, I examine themes of connection, endurance, and personal transformation. Inspired by the rhythms of daily life - its stresses, joys, and the inevitable passage of time -I investigate how these forces shape both the maternal self and the deeper self.
This quilt incorporates a photograph of hair arranged to form the word "mom." Hair serves as a physical remnant of the body, carrying traces of time, care, and identity. Printed onto fabric and stitched into the quilt, the image becomes a meditation on how motherhood is woven into the self. The tactile qualities of quilting evoke the repetitive, often invisible labor of caregiving, while the photograph preserves a fleeting marker of personhood. Together, these elements speak to the tension between being a mother and remaining oneself.
